Whoever fulfills the Torah out of a state of poverty, his end will be to fulfill it out of a state of wealth.

“Rabbi Jonathan said: Whoever fulfills the Torah out of a state of poverty, his end will be to fulfill it out of a state of wealth. And whoever discards the Torah out of a state of wealth, his end will be to discard it out of a state of poverty.”

Tractate of Avot 4:9

Every person must pursue knowledge. New information can help the rich preserve their properties and the poor amass more riches. However, anyone who is only concerned with money and doesn’t dedicate their time to the study of Torah will eventually lose their riches and end up with no spiritual or physical assets.
